Principal’s Message

Happy New Year Cirby families!  I hope you had the opportunity to share time with family and friends during our Winter Break.

As 2019 begins, teachers and students transition back to school routines after a long break. Teachers know that children want – and need- routines.  Studies show that families of successful students also have established routines.  Repetition of these established routines helps children learn to organize their world.  The structure gives them a foundation to help cope with the rest of their lives.

Here are some helpful suggestions to establish this foundation:

• set a time and place for children to do school work

• set a time for children to read at home every day

• give children responsibilities in the home

• establish a regular bedtime

• reserve some special time to spend with your children, 1:1, if possible

• recognize that children learn in different ways

• establish morning routines so children get to school on time each day

We all start the new year with a “clean slate”. Our School-Wide Expectations – Show Respect, Make Good Decisions and Solve Problems – will be thoroughly revisited in January. In conjunction with this re-teaching,

Lastly, as we embark on this new year together, I would like to thank you for all you do to support Cirby School and student learning – all year long!

Communication

At Cirby, it is our goal to keep you well-informed about all of the things happening here. We have a variety of communication tools to keep you up to date. We communicate via our school website, Facebook (RCSD Cirby), text messages, voicemails and emails, which includes our monthly newsletters – all to keep you and your family informed about what’s happening at Cirby.

RCSD Volunteer Policy

Regular classroom volunteers must be fingerprinted and provide TB test results prior to volunteering in class. You may review the complete policy by clicking here.  Volunteers must be fingerprinted at their own expense. If you have previously been fingerprinted at any school in our district, you do not need to complete the process again.

Please listen to our voicemails and check your emails and read texts from us. This is our way of delivering important information about special events that you will not want to miss. Don’t forget to check us out on Facebook – RCSD Cirby.

Please take the time to give us your feedback. It is important to us.

I appreciate you being a partner in your child’s education!

Thank you,

Karen Quinlan
